This page provides support information for the Smartermatch IG Helper Chrome extension. The Smartermatch IG Helper is a secure, user-controlled bridge designed to synchronize Instagram follower metadata (usernames and numeric IDs) directly to your private Smartermatch dashboard.

This extension is built for Smartermatch AI users who need to organize enriched profiles and relationship data within their existing platform workflow.

2. Quick Start Guide

  • Step 1: Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  • Step 2: Log in to your Smartermatch.ai dashboard.
  • Step 3: Log in to your Instagram account in the same browser.
  • Step 4: Open the extension popup and click "Connect @username" to authorize the link between your accounts.
  • Step 5: Click "Start Syncing" to begin the metadata transfer.

Security & Privacy Policy

The Smartermatch IG Helper is designed with Privacy-First principles:

  • No Passwords: We never see or store your Instagram password.
  • No Private Data: The extension does not access Direct Messages (DMs), private posts, or your "Following" list.
  • Local Verification: Cookie data is used locally within your browser to verify your logged-in session and is never transmitted to our servers.
  • User Control: No synchronization occurs without an explicit "Start" action by the user.

3. Security Features

Identity Mismatch Guard

To prevent data contamination, the extension actively monitors the browser session. If you switch Instagram accounts while a different account is bonded to Smartermatch, the extension will enter an "Identity Mismatch" state and halt all synchronization until the correct account is restored.

Authoritative Handshake

If you disconnect your Instagram identity via the Smartermatch web dashboard, the extension will receive an authoritative signal to immediately wipe local credentials and cease all background activity.

4. Troubleshooting

Extension shows "Instagram Offline": Ensure you are logged into Instagram.com in another tab and refresh the extension popup.

Extension shows "Identity Mismatch": This means the Instagram account currently logged into your browser does not match the one bonded to Smartermatch. Please switch back to the original Instagram account or update your bond in the dashboard.

Extension shows "Instagram Rate Limit": This may occur if Instagram applies a temporary rate limit. The extension features a built-in circuit breaker and will requires manual restart once it is safe to do so.

"Update Required" Message: This indicates that Instagram's technical parameters have changed. Our team will release an extension update through the Chrome Web Store to restore compatibility.
